Ewa Pietka, Ph.D., D. Sc.

Visiting Professor of Radiology

Background:

Dr. Pietka spends two months/year at USC participating in a long term NIH R01 research projects: “Bone Age Assessment of Children using a Digital Atlas” since 1992. Dr. Pietka is currently the Chairperson, Division of Informatics, Teaching Hospital, Medical University of Silesia and Professor of Silesian University of Technology, Institute of Electronics, Division of Biomedical Electronics. She has mentored 26 M.S. and 9 Ph.D. students. Dr. Pietka received PD training at UCLA, and was visiting faculty at UCLA and UCSF. In 1997, Dr. Piekta completed her Habilitation at the Institute of Biocybernetics and Biomedical Engineering, the Polish Academy of Sciences. Dr. Pietka expertise is in imaging informatics, CAD, image analysis, and PACS. Dr. Pietka participation in this training grant will be in research collaboration, and teaching radiology residents as well as Biomedical Engineering graduate students in imaging informatics.
