Background:

Dr. Chan is presently the PACS Manager & Research Fellow, Department of Optometry and Radiography, Hong Kong Polytechnic University since 2004.
He is also presently a Postdoctoral Fellow, Image Processing and Informatics Laboratory, the University of Southern California (Postdoctoral training only, not an official appointment) since 2002. He has worked as PACS Manager & Research Associate, Department of Optometry and Radiography, Hong Kong Polytechnic University for two years. His prior history includes, Database Administrator, Jockey Club Research and Information Centre for Landslip Prevention and Land Development, the University of Hong Kong – Projects: Comprehensive Ground Information System and Electronic Mark Plant Query System, Course Teacher, School of Professional and Continuing Education, the University of Hong Kong – Postgraduate Diploma Course: “Programming for GIS” for one year. He was a Research Assistant, the University of Hong Kong – Tutor: Mathematics and Computer Programming for 4 years. And a Visiting Research Assistant, Image, Speech and Intelligent Systems (ISIS) Research Group, University of South Hampton – Research areas: stochastic system and support vector machine

Research Interests:

Medical image communication using PACS, Internet-2 and wireless communication network; Radiation Therapy Information System; Medical system integration and electronic patient record; Artificial intelligence (AI) for computer aided detection (CAD), system modeling, automatic control and decision support system
